BIOGRAPHIES  (Provided by Edwin Leibfried)

Don Francisco Chura Flores is "paqo"  (Andean priest-healer -- often described as shaman) from the Q'ero
nation.  The Q'ero live in the high Peruvian Andes, far off the grid and far from the nearest road.  Don Francisco's
mission for the last few years has been working with people like us -- people who are ready to reawaken to the
energies around them and to be a part of the "great shift" we are now experiencing.  Don Francisco is a
ceremonialist by nature, a man more at home in his energy work that in speaking to and teaching groups.  Yet, he
brings an infectious joy to everyone he meets, and a deep visible gratitude for each opportunity to work and play
with us.  He speaks Spanish as well as his native Quechua.

Dona Juana Apaza Ccapa describes herself as "Pachamama Nusta"  (Earth Princess) and sees this quality in all
women.  She has only in the last year begun to travel outside Peru, and our opportunity to experience her
manifestation of the Sacred Feminine is rare and wonderful.  She, like her husband don Francisco, is a "paqo"
known as a "pampamesayok"  (Carrier of the Earth Altar).

The Q'ero hold a special place in Andean society.  They are seen as the last direct descendants of the Inka, and
were traditionally seen as the spiritual advisors to the Inka leaders and people.  To this day, they hold a special
place in the indigenous spiritual gatherings.  They see this as a time when many of us in the developed world are
awakening to the ancient Wisdom Teachings, and a time when their way of life is changing, and they are no longer
to steward the ancient knowledge alone.  Their children are leaving the village for an easier way of life.  They see
US as part of their new lineage, and know that generations from now, when they have forgotten their connections
to the Earth and Mountains, WE we be there to remind them of who they are.  Now is our time to remember who
WE are.

Why is ceremony and ritual so important ?
A beautiful explanation below from the wonderful Sobonfu E Some excerpted from her book, Welcoming Home:

"...rituals are about healing, acknowledgment of people and their gifts, and making spirit visible or tangible.
A ritual is a ceremony in which we call in Spirit to be the driving force, the overseer of our activities..It is a way
for us to find our way to wholeness, peace, self-acceptance, and acceptance of others. Ritual allows us to connect
with the self, the community, and the natural forces around us. Ritual helps us to remove blocks between us and
our true spirit.
The purpose of ritual is to take us to a place of self-discovery and mastery. In this sense ritual is to the soul what
food is the physical body......Ritual is not limited to just indigenous people; it is the language of spirit, and has a
universal dimension to it."

Khuya Healing
"Khuyas" are the healing stones carried in a shaman's "Mesa."  These sessions are deep healing
interventions, and are very effective for releasing fears and trauma.  Heavy energies (experienced
first as mental/emotional distress, anger, fear, etc.) are given to the Earth and lighter, more
compatible energies are brought into the client's energy field.  Both shamans can perform these
hour-long healings.   Don Francisco and Dona Juana occasionally work together to provide an
even more powerful session.

***************
Despacho
Both Don Francisco and Dona Juana are ceremonialists at heart.  Their expertise is evident when
they are creating the beautiful and powerful "haywariska" ceremony better known by the
Spanish term: "despacho."   This ceremony -- a beautiful energy mandala of dreams, thanks and
prayers, is a powerful aligner of the energies that bring healing, manifestation and truth.  We
recommend the despacho for most people.
